Discard Your Weapons

One of the beginning steps in quitting self-injury is to throw away whatever you use to hurt yourself. It may sound unimaginable, but once you get it over with, you feel better.

Collect your weapons and toss them into the outside trashcan to discourage you from reaching back in once you've thrown them away.

Tip: I had a hard time letting go of my single-edge industrial razor, so instead of throwing it away, I laminated it to the cover of my scrapbook. This way I would still see it every day, but not be able to use it. Consider doing something like this if you can't bring yourself to throw it away.
