Think of one word that best describes how you are feeling. Write it down over and over again on a piece of notebook paper. Doesn't seem so tough now, does it? It's just a little word on a piece of paper.
Understand that this exercise is not to make your feelings seem insignificant, but to help you put your problem into perspective and help you realize that perhaps it's not such an earth-shattering experience as you may have thought. It's simply another stage in your life and you will get through it.
